6th Late Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Tournament 2024
The 6th edition of Late Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Tournament was held from 8th to 10th November 2024 at Snehabandhan premises, Jayanagar Guwahati. Altogether 185 players from various schools of Assam participated in this 6 round swiss league event. The matches were played under time control of 45 minutes with 10 second increment.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Siben Dutta, working
President Guwahati Chess Association in the presence of Mrinalinee Devi, wife
of Late Kailash Nath Sarma, Amitabh basumatary, working president, Assam Chess
Club, Mausumi Ganguly, Principal, The Green School International, Vijaya Sarma,
Project Head, Snehabandhan and Biswajit Bharadwaj, International Chess Arbiter
amongst others.
This annual event is organized by Assam Chess Club and Snehabandhan Chess Academy.
All players were provided complimentary lunch during the
tournament.
The tournament was conducted by Nandan Buragohain as the tournament Director. International Arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj is the Chief Arbiter of the event while International Arbiter Monimala Singha and senior national Arbiter Homen Rabha are appointed as deputy Arbiters of the event.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Pradip Timung as the Chief Guest. Krishnanjan Chanda Principal South Point School, Preeti Saikia, managing Trustee, Aarohon, Mrinalinee Devi Wife of Late Kailash Nath Sarma, Dipak Kumar Pathak, DGM Indian Oil and Dr Monomita Chakraborty were the guest of honour.
Young Chess Prodigy Mayank Chakraborty who is on the verge of becoming the first Grandmaster from Assam and Northeast was also felicitated in the function. Vijaya Sarma, Project Head, Snehabandhan conferred the vote of thanks to all the participants, guardians, officials, media persons, caters and vendors for extending support to the tournament.
