6th Late Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Tournament 2024

The 6 th edition of Late Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial Invitational Inter School Children Chess Tournament was held from 8 th to 10 th November 2024 at Snehabandhan premises,   Jayanagar Guwahati. Altogether 185 players from various schools of Assam participated in this 6 round swiss league event. The matches were played under time control of 45 minutes with 10 second increment. The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Siben Dutta, working President Guwahati Chess Association in the presence of Mrinalinee Devi, wife of Late Kailash Nath Sarma, Amitabh basumatary, working president, Assam Chess Club, Mausumi Ganguly, Principal, The Green School International, Vijaya Sarma, Project Head, Snehabandhan and Biswajit Bharadwaj, International Chess Arbiter amongst others. South Point School Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2023

25 December 2023, South Point School Barsapara Guwahati Kumar Gaurav of Bihar clinched the champion title in the tournament by scoring 8 points out of possible 9.   Arpan Das of West Bengal, Y Dhanabir Singh of Manipur, Rahul Soram Singh  of Assam and Ningthem Oinam of Manipur  scored  7.5 points each and were placed from 2nd to 5th position on basis of tie break score.   Altogether 260 players from across the country participated in this swiss league nine rounds  tournament which was recognised by the World Chess Federation.   The tournament was conducted under the supervision of International Arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj as the Chief Arbiter and he was assisted by FIDE Arbiter Pranab Kumar Nath, Swaraj Burgohain, Apurba Sonowal, Manik Dutta, Rajnish Verma and others.
